Who is Marlin Pals?

Marlin Pals

"I am."

Marlin Pals was born in Belmond, Iowa in 1940. In 1960, he enrolled at Iowa State University, seeking a degree in Physics. His unorthodox theories in "avionics and time-travel" did not meet with favor in the conservative scientific community of Iowa State, and in 1964, he was "booted out the back door" with a degree in general science. (Pals's scientific theories are detailed in "Mass Acceleration" (1984), "Time, the Ultimate Dimension" (1985), "Mass Acceleration III" (1986) and "Gravity as an Electromagnetic Force" (1990).)

Embittered, Pals struck out for California, where he believed his ideas would meet with greater acceptance. Soon after crossing the river into Nebraska, however, his car broke down. He has remained in Nebraska, and has been plagued with car trouble, ever since.

Pals pursued his studies, first at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, then independently. He became involved with the Civil Rights movement (at least to the extent of reading about it and writing several letters to the editor), and later with the Unification Church (the "Moonies"). His involvement with and eventual break from the Unification Church is documented in his books "Reflections of the Sun/Son (1982), "Reflections Continued" (1983) and "Reflections on Nichiren Shoshu" (1985).

Pals ran for Lincoln City Council in 1981, but his campaign was scuttled by the Established Media who "slandered" him by deliberately misinterpreting his plans to establish a space port in Lincoln.

Since 1981, Pals has run unsuccessfully for mayor, and for the United States Congress (eight times). In 1986, Pals established his own newspaper, the Independent Advocate to combat the excesses and abuses of the Established Media.

Pals has also worked to amend the U.S. Constitution, gathering dozens of signatures in support of his "Media Amendment Proposal." His efforts in this area are documented in "Zorinsky Media Amendment Proposal" (1987) and "Extremists and the Media" (1989). The former is named for Senator Ed Zorinsky (D-Neb), who, Pals claims, was murdered by the Established Media when they forced him to "dance to his death" at a Press Club function in 1987.

In February 1989, Pals was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats in an incident involving an alleged bomb threat against a Lincoln business. The charges were subsequently reduced to disturbing the peace and Pals did not serve any jail time. The incident did not slow his tireless efforts to fight the abuses of the Established Media and its allies (the Police, the FBI, the Republican Party, Domino's Pizza, the Anti-Defamation League, and countless others).
