"Ballad of Ed Zorinsky"
(Sung to the tune of "Big John")
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
He rose to power when
civil war threatened.
Though it was unknown
to many he was to become
a great man.
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
The people wanted ac-
cess to their leaders
so Ed took his office
door off its hinges.
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
Ed switched parties to
get elected to the Sen-
ate. "Wierd Harold, the
Omaha Disgrace" scorned
his action, and vowed
revenge.
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
As Senator, Ed peaceful-
ly upheld U.S. interests
in Nicaragua; and took a
big step toward ending
illiteracy.
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
Wierd Harold, the Omaha
Disgrace said, "Boy! You
cain't be no party swit-
cher, and be no U.S. Se-
niter", and so he sicced
his curs on Ed and pul-
led out his shootin'
irons, and with bullets
flying, and curs snat-
ching at him, Ed danced
to his death.
Big Ed!
Big, Dead Ed!
It has been said that
Ed died so that those
who still live could
so live that those who
have died, have not di-
ed in vain; and so that
this government of the
people, by the people
and for the people shall
not perish from this
earth.
Big Ed!
Big, Big Ed!
